Laser Pigmentation Treatment

Laser pigmentation treatment is designed to target suitable areas of unwanted superficial pigmentation, helping to create a clearer, more even-looking complexion.

Pigmentation can develop for many reasons, including sun exposure, ageing and individual skin characteristics. Depending on the type and depth of pigmentation, suitable concerns may include sun spots, age spots, freckles and other localised areas of excess pigment.

During treatment, carefully selected laser energy is directed towards the pigmented area. The pigment absorbs the laser energy, allowing the targeted pigmentation to gradually break down and be naturally cleared by the body over the following days and weeks.

Treatment is precise and can be used on individual lesions or multiple areas depending on your skin assessment and treatment plan. Some pigmentation may respond well to a single session, while other areas may require a course of treatments to achieve the desired improvement.

A consultation and skin assessment are carried out before treatment to determine whether the pigmentation is suitable for cosmetic laser treatment. Patch testing may also be required before proceeding.

Laser pigmentation treatment may be suitable for:

  • Sun-induced pigmentation

  • Age spots

  • Freckles

  • Localised superficial pigmentation

  • Uneven areas of visible pigment

  • Suitable pigmented lesions following assessment

Following treatment, the targeted pigmentation may temporarily appear darker before gradually fading as the skin renews. Appropriate aftercare and daily sun protection are particularly important to protect the treated area and reduce the risk of further pigmentation developing.

Any mole, lesion or area of pigmentation that appears suspicious, has recently changed, or requires further medical investigation will not be treated cosmetically. Where appropriate, we will recommend further assessment or specialist review before any treatment is considered.
